Successful Organization of the 24th Iranian Hydraulic Conference and the National Qanats Symposium

The 24th Iranian Hydraulic Conference and the National Qanats Symposium, centered on the theme “Hydraulics of Sustainable Groundwater Flow with Emphasis on Qanats”, were held on October 28–29, 2025, hosted by the University of Birjand. This national event was organized in collaboration with the Iranian Hydraulic Association, Abniran Consulting Engineers, the Iranian Basij Organization for Construction, and a number of scientific, executive, and governmental institutions active in the field of water resources. The primary objectives of the conference included the exchange of scientific findings, presentation of cutting-edge research achievements, examination of prevailing challenges in the fields of hydraulics and sustainable groundwater management, and an emphasis on the preservation and revitalization of traditional water structures, particularly qanats. The event brought together a distinguished group of university professors, researchers, senior managers, and technical experts from across the country who participated in scientific sessions, specialized workshops, and paper presentations, addressing the latest scientific and operational approaches within the field. Abniran Consulting Engineers, as one of the principal organizers of the conference, played an active and influential role in planning, scientific coordination, and execution of various segments of the event. The participation of the company’s experts in panel discussions and specialized workshops, along with the presentation of field experiences and technical studies related to hydraulics and water resource management, were among the highly appreciated components of the program. The successful organization of this conference contributed significantly to the strengthening of scientific and professional cooperation among universities, executive bodies, and consulting engineering firms, representing an important step toward advancing technical knowledge and promoting sustainable solutions for water resource management in the country.
